The home, a cottage located in a rural setting amid farmland two miles from the largest town on the island, has a front-facing study with wooden flooring, the Isle of Wight County Press Online reports.

It is situated downstairs next to a dining room and kitchen, while upstairs features bedrooms and a bathroom.

The home, which has a whitewashed exterior, also features wood in other places as it has beech block work surfaces.

Constructed in 1905, the home was extended five years ago and is available for an asking price of £435,000.

Other houses for sale featuring wooden floors include 16 newly constructed residences in Leesburg, Virginia, the Washington Times reported this week.

All the residences feature hardwood flooring in their foyers, as well as other wooden features such as oak staircases.

Shadow schools secretary Michael Gove has been blamed for the influx of the creatures after buying a Moroccan carpet for his office at the Palace of Westminster.

The allegation was made by Nottingham North MP Graham Allen, who has his own office nearby and denied that the moths arrived when he opened his wallet.

He said: "The fact is Michael Gove MP brought in a second-hand Moroccan carpet and ever since we have been plagued by them."

Mr Gove has subsequently moved office but the moths are still present, Mr Allen said.

The Conservative frontbencher has not commented on the claims.

Carpeting is a notable feature of the Palace of Westminster, with the colour scheme being green for the Commons and Red for the Lords.

Bentley Prince Street, which makes carpet tiles and broadloom carpets, has announced the advent of Cathedral Square, a new design made from premium wool.

A loop broadloom product made from 100 per cent wool, the surface is described by the company as "an ideal choice for the hospitality, residential, retail or corporate sector".

Noted as being a resilient carpet that is available in ten shades, the firm also stated that it has diversified its yarns and is seeking to ensure its organic materials makes the firm’s impact on the environment a neutral one by 2020.

Company president Anthony Minite remarked: "This product excites us because it brings together so many of our core values; style, quality and sustainability."

Last month, flooring manager for Canadian firm Jordan’s Interiors Greg Holtz described wool as being one of the original eco-friendly flooring options.

In a list of measures householders can take to make their homes more eco-friendly, the Ecologist magazine has said some artificial substances can be harmful to health, as can carpets that have had certain chemical treatments or contain particular types of glue.

It said wool carpet was one of the best options for a better home environment.

The magazine also issued guidance on harder floor surfaces, suggesting that cork flooring and Forest Stewardship Council-certified hardwood flooring are among the best choices.

This advice came alongside suggestions such as having a green roof, energy-saving lightbulbs, renewable energy devices and paint that does not contain harmful volatile organic compounds.

Last month, the Daily Mirror said that a wool carpet was a great way to add a "Hollywood" touch to a room.

It suggested berry or pink would be a "brave" colour that is likely to say in fashion for a long time.

Nepal Rugs and Carpets has signed a deal with Lisa Delivery Services (LDS) that will see the latter firm provide a comprehensive air-freighting service that includes packaging, inspecting, padding, delivering and installing rugs, Furniture Today reports.

The Kathmandu-based manufacturer, which deals mainly through designers, said this would help it provide a better service.

"LDS adds a dimension to our business we had not previously had," president of the company John London said.

The delivery firm also works with retailers and manufacturers in the delivery of furniture and other items.

Last month, the Nepalese government conferred its 2009 Export Excellence Award on carpet exporter Thomas Roetter, the managing director of German firm Kreiger GmbH.

The company managed to export 27,123 sq m of Nepalese carpet to Germany last year, leading to the country’s prime minister rewarding Mr Roetter.
